1. We believe we are called to be a church for all people, and so we affirm our community to be multi-ethnic, multicultural and gender equal.
2. We believe that God transforms lives through the gift of Grace:
* Prevenient Grace: the grace that through Jesus Christ calls even while we are sinners and broken people.
* Justifying Grace: the grace that reconciles us to God through the cross of Jesus, and provides us with pardon, forgiveness and healing;
* Sanctifying Grace: the grace that through God's Holy Spirit enables us to live a Christian life as followers of Jesus Christ, and through which we receive daily comfort and strength.
3. We believe in and will affirm the God-given sacred worth of each individual life.
4. We believe the world is our parish, and so our ministry extends in and through our church, the community and the world.
5.We are called to be a caring community of hospitality.
6. We are called to be a caring community of healing.
7. We are called to be a caring community of hope.
8. Service: We share God's love in practical ways.

10. Caring Community: We believe in the church as the Body of Christ in the world, and believe discipleship occurs best in small group communities.

EVENSONG
3rd Sundays at 7 pm
An Amazing Worship and Praise Service
All ages welcome
"The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell; It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell". The history of this beautiful song goes back to the year 1050 AD and reminds us of the mighty and enduring love of God. Join us as we celebrate the gift of that love and of God's saving grace, both of which are forever present with us. On February 19, 2012 we gather to sing the uplifing songs of our faith and open our hearts to be blessed by an inspiring message from DR. ROSALIND OSGOOD, Minister of Christian Education, New Mount Olive Baptist Church, Fort Lauderdale. Bring along friends and relatives and anyone your know who is likely to miss morning worship because of work. We'll take time to share our joys and concerns, to pray for each other and to joyfully praise our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Event location is: Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 NW 70th Avenue, Plantation, FL 33313. www.pumc.net Phone (954)584-7500.

Pastor Sam's Thoughts
Dear Friends,
Are you making New Years Resolutions? Our Church Conference voted New Years Resolutions for Plantation United Methodist Churchfor the next four years!
The Council on Bishops challenged each church to set goals for the next four years in five different areas.
These goals will be presented at the General Conference in April 2012. The General Conference delegates in Tampa will pray over these goals, praying that churches will be able to accomplish them. Our Church Conference approved positive goals for Plantation United Methodist Church, which are found below.
They represent hope for the future of PUMC moving in a positive direction after years of decline. We are a strong church. But the reality is that in 1998 there was an average attendance of 592 in two Sunday morning worship services. That number has gradually declined to 440 average attendance in three services in 2010, a 25% drop.
The good news is that new families are joining PUMC. However, deaths, people moving away and the declining health of members account for a higher number. Remember at our All Saints Service we read 24 names of persons who had attended our church but who had passed away during the year. The gradual decline in attendance at PUMC has been happening in 85% of our United Methodist Churches. Yet we are people of hope. With the prompting of the Bishops, our Church Conference has voted to work for the growth of the church.
We set goals for modest increases: 1) in average worship attendance, 2) in the number of persons joining the church by profession of faith of reaffirmation of faith, 3) in the number of persons in small groups, 4) in the number of people helping others in the community and 5) in the total amount given by the congregation for budget, capital and missional concerns annually.
As we look to the future, we have hope that we can grow, that we can become more and more the people God has called us to be. And, of course, hope is a gift from the One born in a stable and laid in a manger so long ago. May God bless you this holy season with hope, love, peace and joy! May God grant you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2012!
